CARDIO MAKES YOU FAT!

You heard me say this over and over…
This is a hot topic in my line of business, but what’s funny is…
People come to me..ask my professional opinion or want advice and DO NOT LISTEN.
Why?
All the crazy marketing and brain washing that has been going on with these too good
to be true diets products on the shelves and on TV.
Why ‘cardio’ doesn’t work!
What I am talking about is the ‘endless’ amounts of ‘cardio’ people do
because vacation is coming up, they have a wedding etc..
We have been telling the members of the gym, clients and thousands of people all over
the world why doing long bouts of ‘cardio’ to burn fat is not they way to do it..
So, fine…don’t listen to me..Listen to my good friend Paul Mort. He has an awesome
blog post with four reasons why cardio MAKES YOU FAT!
Things change and the way to lose fat is proven and it is the way the body works..
When you try to ‘trick’ the body (Atkins, Oxford, cabbage diets etc..) it will kick you back in the arse and leave you where you don’t want to be..FATTER!
Think about this for a second: When you go to a gym do you see a class in the aerobics room filled with treadmills
and people are just running, and running and running and running??? There is a reason for that.
Quick note before I send you to read Paul’s awesome post:
Protein..he mentions that you need to up your protein. He is NOT saying eat tons of protein, but to increase it. Why? You may not keep track, but when you do you will notice that a high percentage of your nutritional intake in one day is mostly carbs. All my clients have been very successful, depending on activity level, with at least 50% of their diet from carbs. Personally, I suggest 30% of your daily intake from protein. Please Note: This varies on your activity level and not everyone is the same.
OK..Here ya go! Head to see Paul’s ‘In your face’ thread :) Paul’s Blog
Have a great day!

Habits can be good or bad

Habits, we ALL have them. I have some very strange habits, but you are NOT going to read about them ;)

Here is an article I wrote awhile back about ‘Habits’: How long it takes to form them and how long it takes to break out of them.

Please check it out and see what habits you can break today :)

Help me stop the madness!

Ok..you know how I feel about ‘body builder’ routines for NON-body builders.

Why would a trainer train a female executive or stay at home mom with a ‘body builders’ routine? ARGGGGGGGGGGG!

Please weigh in for a very stressed out friend of mine who IS on one of these programs with her trainer and is very unhappy with the results. In fact she mentioned how she wants to burn more fat and her trainer said” ‘You need to do an extra 60-minutes of treadmill on Saturday’s. HUH!!?!? That is on top of her already 45-minute AFTER workout cardio 5 days a week!

Please put your two cents here after you read her workout below. Keep in mind she in NO WAY is a body builder and does not want to be. She is a very busy business woman who does not have 2-hours a day to workout (I didn’t even put her nutrition here!)

Nutrition tips when traveling

Although I talked about this before, I would like to get into more detail so you and your team benefit greatly from proper nutrition while traveling.

When you travel overnight with your team I cannot recommend enough that the first thing you do when you arrive at your destination is go to the grocery store. If you are able to go shopping before your trip..better :)

Why the grocery store?

The goal is to stock your room with items that are nutritious or more nutritious than what you will see at the tournament food stand. You will also want to take food with you to the tourney.

So, choices many of us make when traveling are as follows:

-fast food

-diner food

-fruit juices and soda from the hotel machine

-chips etc in the hotel room

-hotel breakfast consisting of ‘not so good’ food
